Derby 2 Portsmouth 2
Harry happy with a draw

Pompey let a second half advantage slip to be held to a 2-2 draw by Premier League new boys Derby today.
Andy Todd's 84th minute header force Harry Redknapp's men to settle for a draw they scarcely deserved at Pride Park.

Ex-Southampton midfielder Matt Oakley gave the home side the lead after just four minutes.

But Benjani Mwaruwari levelled after 26 minutes before impressive newboy John Utaka gave Pompey the lead eight minutes from time.

It was a lead Pompey held on to for just two minutes as poor defending let Todd in to equalise.

The Blues gave starts to their big money signings but it was Derby who dominated most the play with their rugged style and determination.

After the match Pompey boss Harry Redknapp said: 'It was an exciting open first game of the season.

'If anything we were too open. We came to try to get three points but the game went from end to end.

'Any team which comes up will have a right go on the first day of the season like Derby.

'I expected a tough game and we got it.'
